Am I a Candidate for Teeth-In-A-Day?

Did you know Teeth-in-a-Day® allows you to have your extracted teeth replaced with temporary implants, easing the wait for your permanent teeth? Find out if you’re a good candidate for this procedure.

When you have teeth extracted, it can sometimes take weeks for new implants to be created and placed in your mouth. But with Teeth-in-a-Day®, you can have temporary teeth placed the same day as your extraction so you don’t have to feel uncomfortable during the waiting period.

Not everyone is a candidate for Teeth-in-a-Day, but those who are report great results. Missing teeth and tooth loss goes hand in hand with a number of physical — as well as psychological — effects, so it helps to avoid long time periods between extraction and placement.

Jeremy K. Ueno, DMD, founded Ueno Center Dental Specialists with the mission that every patient receive personalized, effective dental treatment. He and our other providers offer Teeth-in-a-Day as an alternative to waiting for the smile you want and need.

How Teeth-in-a-Day works

The Teeth-in-a-Day procedure starts with taking an image of your mouth so we can plan your treatment before your extraction. Then when you arrive at the office for your procedure, you’ll receive sedation so you’re comfortable.

We extract some or all of your teeth (depending on your needs) and place your temporary implants. In addition, we often use platelet-rich fibrin to speed up the healing process. We then send you home until your permanent implants are ready a few weeks later.

The ideal candidate for Teeth-in-a-Day

As we stated above, not everyone is a candidate for Teeth-in-a-Day. The procedure requires certain health checks as well as steps on your part to ensure the best results possible.

Good oral and physical health

You must be in good health because issues with your healing ability, other teeth, or gums could cause problems during recovery. In many cases, Teeth-in-a-Day is an excellent choice if you have experienced trauma causing some teeth to be knocked out or in need of extraction.

Jawbone density

A healthy jawbone and a lack of any medical conditions that could affect bone density is necessary for this procedure. Without good jawbone density, Teeth-in-a-Day is not a viable option.

Jawbone density is one of the biggest factors affecting implant survival rates because the jaw must be healthy and strong enough to support the implant. Some patients require bone grafting as an additional step to implant placement, and if this is the case for you, Teeth-in-a-Day might not be the best option.

No teeth grinding

Temporary implants can’t withstand the pressure of regular teeth grinding. If you grind your teeth, it’s best to wait for your permanent implants and to discuss other options to protect them once they’re placed.

Good oral health care

Having temporary implants means you need to be extra diligent with your home oral care routine. Brushing twice a day, flossing, and rinsing with antibacterial mouthwash are all musts. If you know you are the kind of person who can commit to this routine, you’re likely a good candidate for Teeth-in-a-Day.
