Immediate Implant Placement
In some situations, an implant can be placed at the same time as your extraction. This is dependent on the quality of your bone and if you are healthy enough to go through this procedure. A 3D CBCT X-ray will be taken to evaluate the quality and quantity of your jaw structure. If your bone is adequate, an implant will be placed into the tooth extraction socket at the same time as the extraction. A bone graft is then placed into the socket to properly surround the implant as the implant diameter is typically smaller than the diameter of the extraction site. A temporary tooth can then be made on your implant.

This temporary tooth is a non-functional tooth and will be there for esthetics and to shape your gums for a nicer final outcome. Following a 4 month healing period, your surgeon at the Ueno Center will release you back to your restorative doctor to fabricate your new implant retained tooth!
An immediate implant is a great way to get a tooth back the same day and to have less surgery performed. Again, not everyone is a candidate for this procedure, so please consult with your Ueno Center doctor to see if you are healthy enough and have enough bone for an immediate implant.
